Welcome to the official web page created by Universidad de Granada for the 11th Scientific Meeting of the Fundación Española de Historia Moderna, which will take place in Granada, Spain, from June 9th to 11th 2010.
The web page will be a very important tool in the organisation of the scientific meeting and will provide permanent communication between organisers and participants. Therefore, any suggestions to improve its usefulness are most welcome.
We wish to welcome you on behalf of the Fundación Española de Historia Moderna (FEHM) and Universidad de Granada, whose Area de Historia Moderna has the honour of organising the eleventh edition of this biennial scientific meeting. We expect Granada to show its hospitality once again so that you have a fruitful and enjoyable stay from a professional and personal point of view. To the extent possible, respecting the session calendar, we have planned visits of great historic importance to Granada and its surroundings: the Palaces of the Alhambra, the Castle of La Calahorra and the city of Guadix.
From an academic point of view, this web page is aimed to provide specific information about the meeting programme, registration procedures, rules for the submission of papers, acceptance of papers, and paper presentation timetable, as well as information about your stay in Granada and the possibilities offered by the city. Please do not hesitate to request additional information. We will always be willing to provide it. Granada will certainly be the cornerstone of the meeting.
The upcoming meeting is clearly an exciting and shared event. From the scientific point of view, it will show the findings of research and the proposals to interpret the two subject areas selected: The Absolutist State and the Spanish Monarchy and Conflict and Violence in the Early Modern Period. The meeting will include lectures on major historical processes in the Kingdom of Granada in the Early Modern Period. A new addition strongly supported by the FEHM is the organisation of thematic sessions – seminars – proposed by the members themselves. This will strengthen the exchange of ideas between specialists in specific subjects and open new possibilities for cooperation between the numerous and solid groups and research teams that currently exist in the field of Early Modern History. Interpersonal relations between specialists are essential. This has always been the spirit of the various editions of our scientific meeting and is still our main asset. Indeed, this forum makes progress in our discipline visible to Spanish society, researchers and academia.
We will feel satisfied if you feel comfortable in these days of late spring and enjoy the company of the many colleagues that will meet in Granada under the auspices of the FEHM. Thank you for your participation and your suggestions.
